Sitting snugly in a deep, cosy hollow at the foot of Eccles Pike in the hamlet of Whitehough, this 400-year-old, beautifully converted coach house offers superb holiday accommodation on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Complete with its own off road parking, well equipped and furnished to a very good standard throughout, solid oak and slate flooring, beamed ceilings, a vintage bath with rain shower and an oversized 6ft double bed (6ft 6in length) adorned with 100% cotton sheets, this cottage makes a perfect, romantic retreat for a couple. There is a range of walks available from the door and along the local canal, and Whitehough itself has two pubs offering real ales, traditional, locally sourced food and an annual 3-day beer festival attended by thousands. Outside Whitehough, Chinley, as its neighbouring village, contains a good range of shops including a newsagents, deli and an Indian restaurant. Popular tourist destinations include Lyme Park, Castleton and Buxton, which can all be easily reached in under 20 minutes. The magnificent, historic houses of Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall and Eyam Hall can all be reached in around half an hour, and the Midshires Way, Pennine Way and Sett Valley Trail are nearby for further walking and cycling. Shop 1 mile, pub/restaurant 50 yards.
