This attractive stone-built cottage a mile from the town of Stocksbridge makes a great getaway for a couple looking to enjoy the walks and trails of this northern part of the Peaks. There are some views over the valley and moors from the cottage, which has a master bedroom with king-size double bed and en-suite bathroom. Downstairs, there is a fitted kitchen, and a sitting room with large sash windows and a cosy woodburner-effect stove. Outside, the cottage benefits from off road parking and a garden with furniture.

Just returned home after spending another lovely week at Underbank Cottage. If your just a twosome and are looking for a quiet break away from "ratty" , you would have to look hard to better this well stocked detached cottage. The facilities cannot be criticised and there's plenty of parking for the car. The panorama from the cottage looking towards the Langsett moors is stunning , and as a bonus we were lucky to catch a couple of really frosty mornings which always advances the vista. Penistone is a lovely little moorland town with loads of facilities, and the ride over the Strines is truly amazing .

I worked for British Steel down the fox valley in the 1970s so this was a bit of a nostalgia holiday. The cottage is in a lovely position with uninterrupted views overlooking the Langsett moors and Underbank reservoir . The lounge, bedroom and bathroom are all of a good size with 32" TVs in both the lounge and bedroom. The en suite bathroom has large shower cubicle plus good size bath and the water pressure is good and hot for showers and baths. Outside there is a pleasant seating area amidst a profusion of colourful plants with lovely views over the gardens and distant hills. Overall this is a we'll catered for cottage with everything a couple would need for a good holiday. The internet connection is a little hit and miss but we have yet to find a cottage in a rural area with good coverage.

This was our third visit to Underbank, and as usual, everything was perfect. The weather was atrociously wet and windy but the cottage cosy and warm. Internet access was a big improvement on last time and could now be classed as good. Jam and scones a lovely touch. Will be back in March 2019.
