Free Wi fi available now. You can now book on line on our web site This cosy' cottage is within a stone's throw of one of the most beautiful Palladian mansions in Britain, home to part of the National Gallery of Scotland.

The cottage still has features such as exposed beams to remind us of the past but modern central heating, full double glazing and insulation ensure a truly warm and comfortable stay. The lounge/kitchen area has been newly carpeted and refurnished during early 2016 and is freshly decorated. The kitchen is well fitted and equipped with marble work-top, dishwasher washing machine etc. Relax in the cosy lounge and watch the wall mounted, flat screen tv or blu-ray dvd/cd player.

Upstairs, there is a very well designed bedroom with a second flat screen tv. The en suite bathroom has new walk-in shower with rainhead fitting and vanity area.

One dog is welcome at no charge and a second small pet is welcome by arrangement. we offer a water bowl, poo bags, doggie treats and dog towels. Our human guests enjoy a lovely Welcome Basket with home made jam, local beer shortbread and more.

The garden has fruit trees and barbecue and Paxton has the benefit of a super pub with really good food and beer! The A1 is only 5 miles away and the main rail station at Berwick can be reached in 10 minutes by car or by bus from the village. (no Sunday service) The local pub, The Cross Inn is only two minutes walk away and offer great food and real ale and a warm welcome

There are great short walks through the grounds of Paxton House down to the Tweed and along to the Chain Bridge, the first significant suspension bridge to be built anywhere in the World. Here, netting for salmon still takes place during the peak months of the Summer "run" - the last place on the Tweed. Other short walks give the chance to explore down to the Whiteadder, the first tributary of the Tweed while short drives can take in the beautiful coastline at St. Abbs, Coldingham Bay (diving and surfing), or inland to the former county town of Duns with the Jim Clark Museum and Manderston House.

The Scottish capital of Edinburgh is only an hour away through the beautiful Lammermuir Hills. It is only fifteen minutes drive to the causeway of Holy IslandThis is a cottage you will want to come back to again and again.
